Hay Fever (?)

Update: Just wanted to say that the post space isn't quite big enough for the video I made above. You're going to have to guess what the missing word is. It's not that hard, it's usually a "to" or a "the." Not hard.

Two New Movies

Two new movies arrived in theaters last Friday, one of them being the new batman movie: The Dark Knight. Batman took the top spot at the box office, with an impressive 158 million for the opening weekend, in the US.

Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker. Mamma Mia! opened the same day as The Dark Knight, raking in about 28 million dollars, an astounding difference to the next Batman movie.

Donna, an independent hotelier in the Greek islands, is preparing for her daughter's wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile Sophie, Donna's spirited daughter, has a plan of her own. She secretly invites to the wedding three men from her mother's past in hopes of meeting her real father and having him escort her down the aisle on her big day. (Thanks to Fandango)

Books for the Younger Ages

This book is about triumph in a time of need and will have you nearly in tears, or stung by the truancy.

Annabel Greene is now torn after having an abrubt and sudden blowout with her friend, Sophie. She has faced a lot of humiliation for the situation she was put into with Sophie's boyfriend, Will Cash, which ultimately left her friendless. But, the cut is deeper than that... it's what lurks under her heart, what secret she keeps from everyone, that has her silent. Just when it seems impossible to talk to anyone, Owen Armstrong, a boy that no one talks to because they are intimidated by him, appears. A boy that doesn't care what anyone thinks, the one person who get's Annabel to open up. But, in the end, will her openness cost her her secrets?

The reason why I'm recommending this book is because it's told from a very real point of view. Annabel suffers from a lot of different problems, including her blowout, and her sister's problem with an eating disorder. Her family is changed because of all the things happening to her, and her two sisters. This book is really about finding one's self and growth. Growth to become more than you think that you are. It teaches a good lesson.

This book is written by Sarah Dessen, an author who has written many books about finding yourself and the courage to stand up for what you believe in.

If you want to find a book that gives hope, here it is...

Massive

This raw, edgy book will have you wanting more, and flipping pages.

This story tells the rather strange life of Carmen, who has to deal with her mother's obsession with weight and everything she eats. Told from a very truthful perspective, Carmen is thrown into the care of her mother, who seperates from her husband and takes Carman along with her, even though she doesn't want to go. Carmen is subjected into a new, cold, lonely world. Even before she didn't care about her weight, didn't care what her mother said, but now, being taunted next to the fattest kid in her new school, weight seems to become just as much an obsession as it is to her mother. As Carmen becomes sicker and sicker, so does her mother, and they both spiral into the unknown...

At first, this book didn't really spark my interest because it started off at a very random point. It lets you know a lot of things right at the beginning, like, for example Carmen's mother's obsessive compulsive attitude towards food. Right away, in the beginning you start to think that things aren't going to go very smoothly for the main character. Right away she's wisked off to a new life, in a new house and new surroundings, without her "father."

In Massive, written by Julia Bell, you don't get the feeling of warmth, or any sense of relationship, like, friendship. This book is very cold, which is why it is so good, because it bites you in the butt with reality.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a story...

A Recommended Read

The title may alarm you, and the cover art may make you look a second time...but, I'm recommending this book because it has an edge, an edge of reality. It's not just about what could go wrong, it's about what does.

Calliope is a fifteen year old girl who has been "traveling" with her mom throughout the United States, living in tents, and low income, barely cleanly apartments. After staying in one place, both her and her mom pack up as many things as they can fit in their little hatchback, and leave the rest behind for someone else to clean up. Calliope (Cal) is sick of leaving and abandoning things. All she wants is her mother to act like one, have a real home, and one other dream...

Eliot's life used to be perfect in his eyes, it used to be just what he wanted. Then it changed. His father got in touch with God, and exercise. He created a huge empire solely developed to help fat people get skinny, but got caught up in the power of money. Now, Eliot's life is boring. It's not exciting or new, anymore. And when he looks at his mother, he sees the sadness in her eyes everyday. All he wants is to explore, and have his life be like when he was carefree with his dad and mom.

Then these two different personalities meet, sparking immediately. The love that Cal and Eliot form may just save themselves.

Scrambled Eggs at Midnight may seem like an unusual title, but if you read this book, about half way through you'll understand that it's about leaving, and goodbyes. Kind of a silly title that has that kind of meaning, right? Well, it also has something (I'm assuming) to do with the fact that you "should never read a book that has three words as a title". Always four words...The egg part? Well, it's exactly that. It represents the love of both Cal and Eliot. But, what's with the greenish blue lips? It all boils down to the first time these two people met. Believe me, you'll understand when you read it.

This story is told from the P.O.V of two people, Calliope and Eliot. It is written by Brad Barkley and Heather Hepler. Check it out!

Thanks!

New "Story"

There is something that I have been writing for about a couple days now, and I am totally committed to it. It is a script. Now, I don't exactly know what the script is for. The format is set the where it's kind of like a T.V. show. And it is completely rough draft, unfinished. It leaves off at a totally un-reliable spot. Even though I am sure I will get numerous amounts of critism (heck, never mind, no one ever comments anyway) at this UN-POLISHED script, I want to share it with you anyway. I think some of the concept is okay, but I need more opinions and ideas on how to make it better.

*Please do not take this script without any permission. I just don't want people using my writing, even if it's not that good.*

Don't Ask Why

I just wanted to make something! This is a picture out of a magazine (the pictures were just recently shot), and I decided to do some editing to it. There was a whole two pages of the magaze so I had to get rid of all of that stuff, and then I created this:

Photobucket

Awesome, right? Don't get ahead of me and ask me why I keep doing all these things about Twilight. It's because the fourth installment is coming up pretty soon here and that has gotten me excited, okay?

Thanks!
